Bollywood Legend Dharmendra Passes Away at Age Eighty-Nine

Bollywood legend Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89, a piece of news that has deeply saddened fans around the world. According to Indian media, Dharmendra took his last breath at his home in Mumbai on Monday, and many Bollywood actors and family members were seen arriving in white attire to pay their respects.

Reports say that Dharmendra had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai a few days earlier for health issues. Filmmaker Karan Johar also confirmed the news of his passing on Instagram and paid a heartfelt tribute to the veteran actor. Dharmendra had been facing breathing problems over the past two weeks, and earlier this year, he also underwent eye surgery.

Dharmendra’s last film appearance was in the movie Ae Watan Mere Watan, which is set to release on December 25. His career began in 1960 with the film Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere, and he went on to receive the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in 2012 for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. His six-decade-long career includes iconic films like Sholay, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Mere Gaon Mera Desh, Phool Aur Patthar, and many more.

Born as Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol in a village in Ludhiana, he married Prakash Kaur in 1954 before entering films, and later he married actress Hema Malini after falling in love with her. He remained beloved by fans for both his on-screen talent and off-screen simplicity.

Even at 89, Dharmendra was active on social media, often sharing videos promoting healthy living. Many of his posts showed him driving a tractor, working on his farm, and giving simple life lessons to his followers.
